GREETINGS - in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are elated that you visited our web site.
The Historic First Baptist Church is one of the oldest congregations in the nation. It was founded in 1776, the year the Declaration of Independence was signed by the nation’s founding fathers and during a hostile time when our ancestors were often the victims of racism and oppression. First Baptist has survived - for more than 235 years - survived because of our resilience of spirit.
An old adage says, “We may not be what we ought to be; we may not be what we want to be; but thank God, we are not what we used to be”. First Baptist Church is moving forward in Christ with unity of spirit. We worship the same God who was with our ancestors, and who is with us now and will be with us in the future. This God is calling us to a life of unity, a life of faith, and a life of living the promise of Him who said He would never leave nor forsake us. We do our best to build the Kingdom of God in this 21st century, and welcome others to join us.
As we strive to be a relevant church in building the Kingdom of God. The five principles of a relevant church are: Fellowship, Discipleship, Worship, Ministry and Evangelism. These 5 principles form the purpose of the church. We believe that the Word of God provides instruction for a blessed life here and now, and hope for eternal life in the hereafter.
Again, we are delighted that you have visited our web site and hope that if and when you are in the Williamsburg area you will stop by for a visit. You are welcome once, you are welcome twice – you are always welcome in the name of Jesus Christ.
